Support the mission to save and heal lives through donation!
I'm a kidney doctor, dad, and has-been runner going to Falmouth to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.
Kidney transplant is the best therapy available for most people with advanced kidney disease, and the waiting list for a transplant is often over five years. Every time I counsel a patient about their advanced kidney disease, the hope of transplant is tempered by the reality of waiting. I am looking forward to the day that organ donation puts us out of the dialysis business.
We need more people to check the "organ donor" box on their drivers' license, and more people to step up to "share a spare" kidney to help people with kidney disease live longer and better lives.
Description
New England Donor Services is the not-for-profit organization serving the region for organ and tissue donation. There are currently 6,500 patients waiting for an organ transplant in New England and countless others will require tissue to heal this year. With approximately half of the population registered donor, it's critical for more people to join the Donor Registry today. Funds are needed to help educate the community about the importance of organ and tissue donation and the need across the community. Give now and show your support!
