My Story…
Hello friends!
I am so excited (and a bit nervous) to be running in this year's Falmouth Road Race to benefit William's Be Yourself Challenge. For those unfamiliar with William's story, please go to www.williamsbeyourselfchallenge.org to learn more about the incredible legacy William left behind.
William blessed this earth with his presence for nine years. His family, peers, and community have thrown themselves behind his message: "Be yourself". WBYC strives to help people of all ages become more self aware and true to who they are. All proceeds raised will go towards events and speakers to further this goal.
When I learned the race was on August 20th, I knew it was fate. My father would have turned 77 on the day of the race. We lost him in 2007, but his presence is felt every day. I can't think of anyone who was more true to himself than my father. Confident and witty, he was always the center of a crowd, a room, or a conversation. A few running-related memories of my father:
1 - I was home from college one weekend and went with him to his gym. After he watched me gallop away on the treadmill for 30 minutes, he told that the entire room was clearly impressed. Especially when he told everyone, "That's my daughter"
2 - One of his favorite lines from Back to the Future III is "Run for fun? Who would ever want to run for fun?"
Please support me as I train this summer and this wonderful cause!
