Seven years ago, we lost our daughter, Emerson, to a rare genetic illness. Two months after relocating from Seattle to Vermont, we discovered that our seemingly healthy daughter would likely not live to see two. She died in June 2016 at 16 months old. 

Throughout her journey, we received tremendous support from friends, family, and medical providers, as well as the Courageous Parents Network (CPN). CPN is an online support network for parents and caregivers of seriously ill children, offering resources based on firsthand experiences and expert guidance. They helped us feel empowered in caring for Emerson and connected us to a supportive community.
