My Story…
Why I'm running for Team Next Step:
Three core pieces of Next Step programming include Community, Music, and Mentorship. I’m sure you can guess that my own family’s love of music is one of the thigs that drew me to this organization. Next Step has a ‘Song Studio’ where participants write and record their own music and share their own story with the world in the way they want to be heard.
This past June I had the pleasure of hearing one of the songs written by Next Step participants at Symphony Hall in Boston. It was sung with a chorus of Next Step voices and backed up by the Kendall Square Orchestra. It was honest, inspiring, moving, and brave. My goal is to help these young adults create more of this beautiful music.
I hope you'll help me help them.
Description
Next Step empowers teens and young adults living with with life-threatening diseases to successfully transition from childhood to adulthood and into an adult healthcare system, creating their brightest future. This is done by providing extensive support and teaching essential life skills to help our participants to effectively manage their illness, maintain optimum emotional health, and succeed in their professional career. To accomplish these goals, the Next Step programs address the physical, emotional and developmental issues unique to these young adults through our community, music, and mentorship program and moving our young people closer to, "I believe in me."
Please join me in fundraising for this incredible organization!
