My Story…
As some of you may know, I work as a fundraiser at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Part of my role focuses on raising funds for the department of Neurosurgery, specifically around brain tumors, including Glioblastoma (GBM), a type of brain cancer. I've seen how these tumors can devastate entire families. I'd like to try to help change that by running the Falmouth Road Race to support the brain tumor fund at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
GBM is the most aggressive type of brain cancer, and the need for new drugs is dire. Since 2005, only one new drug has been approved by the FDA for treating GBM, and the average survival and universal mortality rate for the disease has not improved in well over 30 years.
However, the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital is changing that. Made up of world leading neurosurgeons and scientists, the department is leading the charge to beat GBM and other devasting brain tumors.
Please join me in helping our department accelerate this critical work to bring much needed therapies to patients as quickly as possible. Every dollar counts in our fight to find a cure and improve quality of life for patients.
