Our Story
The day I received a prenatal diagnosis I wanted to run into the woods. I was given three seemingly impossible choices: lifetime surgery, do nothing and watch my child die, or terminate. I had never felt more of an emotional awakening in my life and nothing could have made me feel more isolated during Christmas 2019 and impending Covid. To top that off, our home hospital was not an option for us due to things they were going through. The antidote to traumatic feelings of helplessness was taking action on my own behalf.
I travelled 3500 miles at seven months pregnant and I found all the hope I needed at the worlds leading children’s hospital. My daughter made quite the entrance in March 2020. Patient housing provided safe and clean place to await for the arrival of my baby and was where “I brought her home.” This was a great alternative to costly hotels that are often not clean or safe. I was lucky that my insurance paid for housing and many peoples insurances do not. While I have never stayed with Lie4Evan, I’ve been in the shoes of a parent who is scared, could have been in a position where I was paying two mortgages and have found out that patient housing is full and needs alternative resources. Please join me in providing critical housing support to families fighting for their child’s life.
ABOUT Live4Evan: The Live4Evan Organization was formed out of a desire to recognize and support the critical relationship between a child and their loved ones. We believe that there is no greater gift to be given than a parent’s love to a child. And we understand the importance of staying by a child’s side without having to worry about the additional burdens that life can place on us. And so, our organization works tirelessly to provide financial and emotional support to families by providing them with temporary housing while their child receives congenital cardiac treatment.
