My Story…
Cancer sucks. In my lifetime, several family members and friends have received the horrific diagnosis of cancer.
Hearing about Maddie's story resonated with me. Learning how kind and motivated Maddie was to help others in need when she was the one who needed it most, made me want to run to help support the Maddie's Promise Foundation. Maddie was an 11-year-old girl, who was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancerous tumor of the soft tissue.
Unlike many adult cancers, rare pediatric cancers have barely moved the needle in terms of emerging treatments. For instance, the rhabdomyosarcoma prognosis has been the same since 1980. Lacking financial support from big businesses that prioritize profitability in numbers, breakthroughs are waiting on the sidelines.
MADDIE PROMISED TO HELP OTHERS.
We’re living up to it by funding impactful research for rare pediatric cancers.
Maddie’s Promise is more than a tribute to a beautiful strong eleven-year-old girl gone too soon; it’s a rallying cry to push rare childhood cancer research forward - creating tangible, life-saving treatments along the way.
Madelyn “Maddie” McCoy made a promise to help others. Until the very end, she was living up to it — creating artwork and a plan to sell it to help those in need. Using her bravery and kindness as inspiration, Maddie’s Promise strives to make Maddie’s next chapter one of positive change for young children battling enormous odds.
ALL PEDIATRIC CANCERS DESERVE RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES, NO MATTER HOW RARE.
