Support CCALS!
In December 2021 our mother was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). As a former nurse, and lifelong caretaker, our mom knew what this diagnosis meant but she fought to hide it for as long as possible in order to allow her to better support her family.
In a cruel twist of fate, we were told our beautiful, kind mother who taught us so many life lessons, bent over backwards for us, stood up for us and never missed a defining moment in our lives, was dealt an unequivocally fatal, neurological disease. She will never get to see her innocently unaware grandchild grow up, and she will not live like our own grandmothers into her 90’s caring for those around her like she’d always planned to do. It truly is the definition of unfair.
ALS is a progressive and eventually fatal neurodegenerative illness with no known cure or effective treatment. This disease particularly cruel because victims are aware of their fate as they gradually lose the ability to control their muscles, to communicate, and eventually to breathe.
Our mom fights with every fiber of her being against this merciless disease. The organization CCALS has been nothing short of amazing in helping provide assistive technology and equipment to my mom. We have always cherished talks with our mom and we are extremely grateful for CCALS for allowing us to continue communicating effectively as the disease progresses. They help people to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.
For that reason, my brother and I are running the Falmouth road race to support the CCALS organization as they provide services and support for families whose lives are turned upside down by ALS. We hope these donations will allow our mom to continue her lifelong goal of supporting those around her by enabling CCALS to continue their mission.

Thank you,
