Help Sabrina raise money

For participating in The 2023 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

Support CCALS!

As some of you may know, my uncle (Parrain) was suddenly diagnosed with ALS last year.  This news completely shook him and our family.  As he continues to navigate his new life with this debilitating disease, I have decided to register as a runner for the Falmouth Road Race 10K.   If you know me, you will know that this will be quite the challenge (I’m more of an expert napper, myself), but watching my uncle remain positive as this disease takes over his body got me to thinking…’If he can fight for his life every day, then I can run a 10K.’ ‘If my family members can become full-time caregivers, then I can run a 10K’…and the list goes on.

In addition to running, I am raising money for Compassionate Care ALS.

In particular, Compassionate Care has provided my uncle with an eye gaze device and a home assessment. What is an eye gaze device? This is a computer/tablet that allows him to communicate (by generating speech with the assistance of an eye gaze tracking system and the computer/tablet) and surf the internet.  This has allowed him independence to communicate with others, leisure opportunities, and most importantly to be able to advocate for himself throughout his journey with ALS.   We are so incredibly grateful for Compassionate Care and all that they continue to provide for him and my family.  The Compassionate Care Team has been very responsive and shows that they truly understand the ups and downs during this ALS journey not only for him but for the family, too.

What is ALS? …it’s not just an ice bucket challenge you may have seen a few years ago circling social media…

ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or more commonly known as, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease.  Huh? What does that even mean?!?! This means that the ALS cells in the brain are weakening the muscle cells, eventually leading to paralysis.  Currently, there are no treatments to stop or reverse the ALS progression.

Please help me support CCALS by donating to the Falmouth Road Race this year! (I will provide video or picture evidence of me actually running to whomever donates and requests proof! lol)

With so much thanks and love,
