This race, organized by the Wainwright Runners, offers a challenging and refreshing start to your running season. Join us for either a 10km or 5km run, a 5km walk or a 2km kids run!
The route is out and back along a paved multi-use trail (Ascot and Area Recreation Trail RR#70) beside the Bud Cotton Buffalo Paddock. As you can see, the route is rolling terrain and should challenge all running abilities.
Every participant who signs up before April 1st, 2023, will be guaranteed a Wainwright Runners fanny pack or snapback hat. As is tradition, the top three finishers in each running category will receive a handmade Bison Run mug. Participants will also have the opportunity to take home a Lodgepole Pine sapling in celebration of Earth Day.

Register before April 1st and you will be guaranteed a FREE piece of Wainwright Runners swag. Participants will also have the opportunity to take home a Lodgepole Pine sapling in celebration of Earth Day.

For those travelling, you can pickup your package the morning of the event from 9:00-9:40am.
NOTE: An adult must accompany kids 12 years of age and under to the race site and must remain on site during the race.

The course is on a paved path called the Ascot and Area Recreation Trail (RR#70).
Due to our "Spring" weather, please try and prepare for variable conditions. Dress in thin layers but several of them to stay somewhat dry and warm! You might want to bring some warm clothes to change in to after the race.
Strollers are allowed.
Personal music is also allowed, but please be considerate of your fellow runners.
Dogs are also permitted if they remain leashed and are in the company of their owners at all times. Please also pick up after your dog.

Ellis Timing is manually timing our race. All participants will receive an official time. Results will be printed on-site and will be available here.
If you placed in the top three in your category but could not pick up your award, please email wainrunners@gmail.com to arrange pick-up. We will get your award to you.
The top three runners in each category will win a handmade Bison Run mug (picture above is from previous years, the 2023 design is still in the works).
Wainwright Runners Membership Discount
Remember to join the Wainwright Runners Club and get $5.00 off each Wainwright Runners event. You will have the option to join the club when you register, or use the Join Club button on the right hand side.
Fruit, muffins and bagels will be available to all participants. Refreshments will available for those who bring their own cup or bottle.
Bison Hardisty Series (3 races)
Back again! COUCH TO 5K PROGRAM. This year this program is available for purchase only when you register for the Bison Dash (link is here)
Deadline for PURCHASE is JUNE 18th
When you register for the Bison Dash, you will have the opportunity to purchase a 12-week Couch to 5K Program, created by Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Natalie Costa. The package includes a comprehensive e-manual that goes over the 12 week program, but also has various other topics such as: how to make the program your own, warm-up and cool-downs, strength training, keeping safe and running etiquette, clothing/shoes/accessories, running in the heat/cold, HR training, cross training, and common running injuries and treatments. You will also receive a C25K Graduate T-Shirt at package pickup of your designated run.
There is an already established Wainwright C25K Facebook group where you can join and become accountable with the others (the link to this group will be sent in your Welcome Email package). You will be notified via email and the Facebook group the date of the scheduled group runs (run by various volunteers and members of the Wainwright Runners) if you choose to attend them.

Wainwright Runners reserves the right to cancel the race based on: (1) Extreme weather during the event, (2) Unforeseen circumstances that make directing the race impossible. In the case of cancellation, race entries will not be refunded. In the event of healthcare restrictions that prohibit gathering at the time of the race, the race will be switched to a virtual event.
