How do I qualify for the championship race at the Beer Mile World Classic?
The proof is in the pudding. Take a video of yourself completing a fast beer and share it with us via email: worlds@beermile.com. The top beer milers from each country will be able to compete in the championship race.
If I don’t qualify for the championship race, can I still participate?
Yes! We will have open beer mile heats on July 1 at the World Classic in the afternoon leading up to the championship races. There is $2,500 in prize money up for grabs for the open race for the fastest individuals and teams. Your registration for the open race also allows you to stick around to spectate the celebrity and championship races later in the evening.
Hold on there Jethro, did you say prize money?
We sure did. We're not afraid to throw out some bands to bring in the best beer mile talent. Here's a rundown of the prize money we are offering:
- Open Beer Mile
- Top 3 male/female individuals: $300, $200, $100
- Top male team and top female team (scoring based on the sum of the top 3 finisher times from each team): $500
- Clydesdale/Athena top male and female: $100
- Championship Beer Mile
- $10,000 of prize money paid out across top male/female finishers
- All money donated to the athlete prize fund will be paid out across the top finishers to ensure we can attract the best worldwide talent and help fund international travel for those overseas
- Costume contest: $100 to the best costume, to be voted on by the noise level of the crowd in a face-off among the best dressed
All prize money will be sent to winners after the event. We will follow-up with all winners and confirm your preferred payout method.
What beer can I drink for the open beer mile race?
Your beer is included in your entry fee! You have your choice of limited edition Two Brothers Priarie Path — the official beer of the 2023 Beer Mile World Classic — or Athletic Brewing Lite — the official NA beer of the 2023 Beer Mile World Classic. All beer will be in cans.
NOTE: You are not permitted to bring your own beer for the open beer mile race.
If I am coming to the World Classic just to spectate, do I need to register?
Yes, spectators must have purchased a ticket in order to get into the event. Capacity is limited, so get your tickets before they sell out!
Are there age requirements?
Spectators of all ages are welcome. To drink beer, you must be 21+ and show an ID to get a 21+ wristband.
In order to compete in the beer mile, you must be 21+ years old.
What all can I expect at the event itself?
You can expect draft beer from Two Brothers Brewing, NA beer from Athletic Brewing, food trucks, music, and the fastest beer milers you have ever witnessed! Get your beer tickets during registration to save money — beer will cost more to purchase on-site.
How does the check-in process work?
When you register online, you will receive an email with a QR code. Please have that ready to show at the event. That is your ticket in.
What can I bring into the event?
No outside food or alcohol will be allowed in, but you can bring in other fluids (e.g. water, Pedialyte, etc.) to stay hydrated. Bags will be checked upon arrival. If you are coming with children/babies, you can bring in any supplies you need to make sure they enjoy the day.
What sort of grub will be available?
We have 3 food trucks coming to make sure everyone is fueled. We have pizza from Billy Bricks, mexican food from La Calaca, and gyros, burgers, and more from Yummy Halal Food.

I'm a media person and would like to cover the event.
Calling all journalists, photographers, videographers, TikTokers, you name it. Hit us up at worlds@beermile.com and we can provide you a media credential.
I see some donation options. Tell me more.
Well aren't you quite philanthropic. It may be a shocker, but the beer mile isn't a well funded sport (yet). Beer milers pay to travel from around the world to this event in hopes of earning prize money and glory for their efforts. The Athlete Prize Fund goes straight toward increasing the prize pot for the championship race to ensure the athletes earn enough to cover their trip.
When will heat sheets be finalized?
We will finalize the schedule of events and heat sheets a few days before the race. We will send out an email notification and also post the heat sheets on this site.
Where is the beer mile world championship held each year?
The Beer Mile World Classic moves to a new location each year to spread beer mile love throughout the world. It has taken place in San Francisco, London (twice), Vancouver, Berlin, Manchester, Leuven, and now Chicago in 2023.
