We are excited to announce the return of our 15th annual
Walk a Mile in Their Shoes
event, honoring survivors of sexual violence in Carroll County.
Please plan to join us Saturday, May 6th at the Carroll County Farm Museum.
In previous years, this event has brought together more than 230 walkers and 45 local businesses to raise awareness of the prevalence of sexual violence in Carroll County.
This event acknowledges the strength and resilience of survivors and as it is our goal to provide the best counseling and crisis support services to survivors and their loved ones who have been affected by sexual violence.
All support services, such as confidential therapy sessions with licensed counselors, 24-hour helpline, school, hospital, police, and court accompaniments, information and referrals, education, and walk-in crisis intervention are completely free of charge.
Keynote speaker is Leslie Simmons, RN, MA, FACHE, executive president and chief operating office for LifeBridge Health. Bring your wallet for our raffles, gift card wall, and more! Visit community partner booths!
Thank you, Tony at Genova's Pizza, for providing FREE pizza and water to participants!

Why do we walk together every year?
We walk in honor of the 1 in 5 women and 1 in 33 men in our community who are survivors of sexual violence.
We walk in honor of victims suffering from domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and teen dating violence as abuse isn't always physical, but sexual.
We walk to bring awareness as sexual violence includes rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, incest, child sex abuse, child sex trafficking, and sextortion-just to name a few.
We walk because everyone deserves a healthy relationship.
We walk because consent matters each and every time. No means No. Yes means Yes. Silence equals No.
The mission of Rape Crisis Intervention Service (RCIS) of Carroll County is to provide hope, healing, and empowerment to all survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones through counseling, advocacy, resources, and education.
RCIS, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, has been the primary provider of support and services of sexual violence in Carroll County since 1978. In the last three fiscal years, we have provided crisis intervention, counseling, and helpline services to over 700 survivors. Our 24-hour helpline is staffed by trained and certified volunteers who are members of our community. For over 40 years, RCIS has been providing comprehensive treatment and advocacy services in the community harmed by any form of sexual violence. We specialize in prevention education and community outreach programs, providing programming for public schools, local government, academia, business, and law enforcement. We are the only treatment program, either profit or non-profit, in the county that provides anonymity and walk-in crisis services to victims of sexual violence. All treatment services are confidential and FREE of charge.
