Help Janet raise money

For participating in National 5K SCADaddle for Research - Chicago area

My Story…

It's 5K SCADaddle time again in Wheaton, IL.  I am raising funds for a poorly understood cause of a heart attack - spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD).  This is the cause of a heart attack that took my healthy sister's life in 2011!  She was only 51 years old.

Please consider donating to our fundraising efforts to help advance research.

SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, new moms and pregnant women. Typically SCAD happens with no warning to healthy, active women.  Although less common, SCAD can happen in men too.

We had never heard of SCAD until my sister's fatal heart attack.  Her husband started SCAD Research, Inc, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit to raise money for research.  Since 2011, SCAD Research Inc has raised a total of $1.3 million for research.  Most of our funds have gone to Mayo Clinic, the first research institution to start researching SCAD.  To read our story check out Mayo Clinic Magazine article

Visit SCAD Research, Inc website for additional info about our organization and SCAD.
