Our story…
We are raising funds in memory of our sister/sister-in-law Judy and all the other SCAD Angels who did not survive their SCAD heart attack. We have met families who have lost their children, spouses, relatives and best friends to SCAD, a poorly understood cause of a heart attack.
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) happens without warning. Unlike the traditional heart attack caused by plaque build up over a lifetime, SCAD is caused by a sudden tear within the layers of one or more arteries to the heart, blocking blood flow and causing a heart attack. While much has been learned about SCAD since 2011, many answers are still waiting to be found through research.
