My Story…
In North Carolina, incarcerating 1 individual costs $52, 882 per year. For Changed Choices women in the post release, 2-year window, the ministry saves the state $793, 230 per year; that is $2.7 million savings to NC taxpayers in 3 years.
The recidivism rate in NC averages around 41%. The recidivism rate for women who are in the Changed Choices program is consistently 4% or less.
I am approaching the 3 1/2-year mark with Changed Choices. In my time here, I have learned a lot about incarceration and re-entry and the obstacles women face. However, the most impactful have been the women we get to journey with. The women are intent on pursuing life change. They are amazing and inspiring.
I am excited about this year's Journey to Freedom because the funds raised will enable us to reach more women and their families.
Please join us.
