Help Glenn raise money

For participating in 2023 Sonoma County Human Race

My Story…

Almost every year since 1987, I have run the The Human Race, a wonderful community event that raises thousand of dollars each year for dozens of local charities. Again this year, I am participating in support of Better Beginnings, a charity my wife, Rosanne, founded 15 years ago. Better Beginnings holds  "Breastfeeding Cafes" each week where trained lactation specialists provide free expert advice to new moms so they can feed their babies successfully. They also have 24/7 coverage to provide emergency labor support by Doulas who volunteer their services to women with urgent needs. Visit www.betterbeginningsforbabies.org and like them at facebook.com/betterbeginningsforbabies.

My goal this year is to finish. Because of recent health issues [cancer and starting chemotherapy], I wont be running. But I plan to walk (even if I take a nap half way though!). Even napping, because of my age, I might still medal!

I have many happy memories or the Human Race. I ran with my daughters for many years - then they easily beat me. My granddaughter was first in the Under-3-weeks age group 14 years ago. A few years ago, I met some women pushing a baby stroller during the race whose goal was to beat the gray haired guy in the pink shirt (me!). They became more motivated when they noticed that the race t-shirt I was wearing was from the Human Race I ran the year they were born! They did beat me.

Last year, all my family beat me – including my 7 year old grandson.

Under the banner of Epic Communities, the agents, staff, and management of CENTURY 21 Epic support numerous charities and non-profits here in the North Bay. Whether in company-wide events or by individuals helping the charity of their choice, we want to help our communities—our neighbors. We want to be involved in making where we live better. In recent years, we have supported food banks, American Cancer Society, ALS, local veterans, Alzheimer’s Association, youth sports, fire victims, shelters, and more. My efforts in the Human Race are part of the commitment we have to help others.
