Since moving to Bowen Island in 2021, I've come to love not only my new community, but also ocean swimming! Last year I volunteered for Swim Bowen as a kayak marshal. I am very excited to participate in this year as a 1500 m swimmer and fundraiser.
I think the Swim Bowen Cancer Care Fund model is amazing: directly supporting Bowen Islanders undergoing conventional or alternative cancer treatment. The financial gifts have no strings attached and are intended to ease the burden of income loss and receiving treatment and patient services off island.
Having raised thousands of dollars for cancer research in the past, I am excited to help provide direct support to folks who need it in my community through participation in this uplifting, joyful and welcoming event.
If you'd like to help me reach my fundraising goal with a small pledge, I would be very grateful! I will redirect to Swim Bowen the portion of annual sales from my Cutting Garden pattern that I usually donate to the BC Cancer Agency.
