Aid Stations
There will be 2 Aid Stations on course.
- Start/Finish area
- Zoo Trail/Maryanne
For 25km and 50km runners you will have access to the Zoo Trail/Maryanne Aid Station twice per loop. The distance between stops is around 8km. You will also have access to the Start/Finish Aid Station upon completion of the first loop.
For 10KM runners there will be no aid station on course so please plan accordingly. You will have access to the Start/Finish aid station once you have completed your event, but it will be up to you to supply any nutrition and fluids to complete the 10km course.
The aid station will be self-serving this year. There will be hand sanitizer and we would ask each runner to please sanitize before accessing any items at the aid station. At the aid station you will have access to the following items:
- Water
- Tailwind
- Pop
- Chips
- Candy
- Cookies
- Bananas
Drop Bags
Drop bags are only permitted in the 50km event and will have a designated zone at the start/finish area. It will not be manned by organizers or volunteers, so it will be up to the runners to locate their drop bags in the drop bag area and to collect them after the race.
Course
All the events use the technical single tracks trails, crushed gravel trail, and roads (very little time spent on actual paved road) around Rockwood park. Although there are no big climbs each distance is rarely flat, and the technicality of the trails will push each runner to dig deep.
The courses will be well marked using small orange flags, and yellow flagging tape. If you look forward and back, you should always be in site of a flag. The trails are very twisty, so you shouldn’t have to go far before seeing another flag.
At major intersections along the course there will be large signs guiding the way, so be sure to follow the proper course.
Below are maps of Rockwood Park with the trails highlighted to give every runner an idea as to what trails they’ll be running. The park maps can be downloaded http://www.rockwoodpark.ca/maps.html
