October 15 marks a poignant day for me – it's both Emerald's due date and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. On this solemn occasion, I find solace and purpose in participating in the annual Virtual Candlelight Gathering, a heartfelt event dedicated to honoring my precious baby, Emerald, and the moments we were unable to share together.

Emerald's journey began five weeks earlier than expected when I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios. We chose to have round-the-clock monitoring at the hospital, as Emerald's fragile life required continuous surveillance due to Hydrops, a condition that loomed with uncertainty over our time together.

Leaving the hospital without my precious baby was an agonizing experience, one that has left an indelible mark on my heart for the past four years. During this personal journey, I've gained insight into the harsh reality that one in four individuals experiences the pain of pregnancy loss, and I find myself among this poignant statistic.

In the midst of my grief and healing, an organization called "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" (NILMDTS) extended a compassionate hand. They provided retouching services to the precious photos I have of Emerald, creating lasting memories that offer comfort in my darkest hours.

As I commemorate this special day, I also aim to raise awareness and support for organizations like NILMDTS. Your generosity can make a difference, helping families like mine find solace, strength, and hope during their darkest hours. Together, let's light a candle of remembrance for Emerald and countless other precious babies who left us too soon.
