*UPDATED DISTANCES/COURSE MAP ON SEPT. 26, 2024 because of the major bridge that got washed out in July. Re-route required.
An ultra for a great cause! The Salomon Bay 100 is proudly supporting the St. Margaret's Bay Food Bank!
Both monetary donations (a portion of the registration fee) and non-perishable food items will be part of registering, so let's get together and help out those in need while doing what we love...trail running!
$10 from every registration fee will be donated to the local food bank! https://www.facebook.com/smbfoodbank/ ...plus you'll be required to bring along 4 non-perishable food items to race check-in as part of your registration :)
The distance options...14k, 50k and 100k.
You'll have some sweet singletrack, a few ATV trails, and some gravel roads.
Elevation gain/loss for the ~14k = ~360m
Elevation gain/loss for the ~50k = ~1515m
Elevation gain/loss for the ~100k = ~3030m
Mandatory gear:
1 charged up cell phone (with my phone number)
1 waterproof jacket
1 first aid kit (gauze pads or similar, band aids, duct tape or medical tape (3+ft), and an emergency blanket)
1 buff or toque
1L water bladder or 2 bottles/flasks, etc.
Drink and food for the loop.
**Random gear checks will be done on course. If you're missing gear, we can't allow you to continue**
Aid stations: we will have 2 aid stations on course with the usual aid station fare. They will be at 7k and at 12.5k.
Cut-off times: there will be on-course cut-off times for the 50/100k runners. TBD.
No pacers and no crew access. Crew is only allowed to help out their runner at the start/finish area.
Volunteers: if you're free for a few hours on race weekend and interested in helping out, please sign up here on Race Roster! Thanks!
The fine print:
*Selling your spot is an option if you can't make it.
*Deferring is also an option if you can't make it!
*No refunds though and no dogs allowed on course.
*No cups at the aid stations as usual, so bring your own drinking do-hickey.
A big thanks to all the sponsors and local businesses...Salomon, Aerobics First, Tailwind, Labour Day Picnic Cafe, Bike & Bean Cafe, Cavicchi's Meats, Anchor Soap, Lefty's Pub, the Safety Minded ATV Association, The 5K Cafe and of course the St. Margaret's Bay Food Bank!
