After several years off, the "Running of the Wolves" is back! This event is a wonderful opportunity for The Wheatlands community to come together while promoting healthy lifestyle choices. New this year is our Mini Muffin Mile for all students to participate in. And we are excited to announce that a portion of the proceeds will benefit our very own teacher, Mrs. Mann's nonprofit organization, Grow for Hope. Grow for Hope supports the women and girls in rural Sierra Leone through employment, education and FGM prevention (https://www.growforhope.com).

A 1-mile, chip-timed course around the school ideal for children of all ages to run with or without a parent. In addition to their race t-shirt, all participants will receive a medal and two mini muffins, courtesy of Big Apple Bagels in Aurora.

Race Course
For the safety of all our participants, the Aurora Police Department has asked us to utilize the sidewalks and bike paths as much as possible on the course. We will have off-duty Officers and plenty of volunteers to guide us. The 5K will start and finish at the school, and travel through neighborhoods surrounding the school. The course is fairly flat, with small downhill slopes and few uphill climbs throughout.
Race Proceeds
Race proceeds will contribute to funding our last two PTO events of the year, 5th Grade Farewell and Field Day. The additional funds will secure a positive financial budget for the upcoming school year. Furthermore, we will also be donating a portion of the profits to support Grow for Hope's peanut and pepper farm in Rosint, Sierra Leone, which provides employment for women in the village.
