Help KATIE raise money

On November 3rd, 2010, I lost my sweet and smiley grandpa to suicide. His death changed my life forever. In February 2014, my husband Todd gave me the book Silent Impact by Joe Schmit. The book made me realize that we all can make an impact by doing right by others and being good in this world. That book also inspired me to start a 5K memorial run in honor of my grandpa Bob. In October 2014, we held our first annual 5K event in Downtown Elk River. We didn't know that Thumbs Up was just the beginning of a beautiful journey that I would never have expected to be around still today. We have been through many challenges and have learned a lot over the past ten years. The community support has kept us moving forward to help others who struggle with their mental illness and those families who have lost a loved one to suicide. We are forever grateful to the community in which we live and those who have supported us. Whether through volunteer efforts, corporate donations, or positive and encouraging words. We will never know the true impact of those we are helping, but we do know that we are helping so many through our efforts. If we only save one person, we know our efforts are worth it.

I have set a lofty goal of $10,000 for our tenth anniversary. Thumbs Up is all for you, grandpa Bob. I love you and miss you so much.
