Our Cause
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little-known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack. Most patients are young, healthy, and active women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can reoccur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.
SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.
SCADaddle
Our timed 5K run/walk takes place on the east side of Crown Point Park in San Diego on Mission Bay. Enjoy the course along the bay on the bay side walkway.
Awards will be given to the overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and to the top three males/females for age groups: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and up.
Register by August 18, 2023, to guarantee this year's t-shirt.

SCAD Social Reunion & Dinner

We are honored to have Dr. Patricia Best join us for the SCAD Social Reunion and the SCADaddle on Saturday! Dr. Best will present the latest research findings on Friday evening and answer questions as time permits. Dr. Best is an interventional cardiologist and a researcher at Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program, Rochester, MN.
Join other SCAD Survivors, their supporters, and Angel Families for a night to meet, eat and learn! An adult dinner and kids' meal will be included in the Reunion final cost!
4-6:00 pm - Reunion start time! The event will begin with early 5K packet pickup and our meet & greet. A cash only bar will be available throughout the evening. Shop our SCAD store and meet others impacted by SCAD.
6-9:00pm - Dinner and Presentation - Welcoming remarks, dinner and Dr. Best will present Mayo Clinic's latest research findings and answer questions as time permits.

Covid Protocol
In order to enhance the safety of everyone, the SCAD Research Inc., Board of Directors recommends that everyone tests before attending the social reunion and dinner. If you test positive, please do not attend the social reunion/dinner. Masks are optional but encouraged for all attendees.
Race Details
Chip Timing: We use a disposable chip timing tag that participants receive at packet pick up on their race bibs. It is lightweight and remains attached to the race bib. Runners/walkers must wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing in order to be timed accurately. Please do not layer over the bib.
Early Packet Pick-Up for Runners AND Walkers: TBA. Packet pick-up is also available at the 5K starting at 7:30am.
