Welcome to the Blue Goat's Backyard Marathon (BGBM)
Set in the Backyard of Blue Mountains Fitness’ Tony Williams, the BGBM offers a challenge to suit all levels with plenty of time to accommodate individuals of any experience.
With options from 5km, 10.5 km, Half Marathon, 30km, Marathon and 50km plus the possibly interminable Last One Standing Endurance Run (The LOSER), there’s opportunity for everyone to take in the stunning surrounds and be in the box seat to spectate the action as it unfolds.
We have a brand new 5km loop for the Last One Standing and the 5km runs.
For the 10.5km, Half Marathon, 30km, Marathon and 50km you will do 10.5km laps.
This year we have decided to give the Last One Standing Endurance Runners a daytime start on the Saturday. The LOSER will start at 12pm Midday.
The 5km runners will do a hot lap of the LOS course. Every other race runs the 10.5km lap.
START TIMES
Saturday Events 2nd December 2023 will kick off at 7am with the 50km
7.00am - Tailwind 50km - 5 Laps
8.00am - Blue Mountains Running Company Marathon - 4 laps
10:30am - Birdwood Podiatry 5km Dash - ages 5+ welcome, all under 12's must run with an adult.
12:00pm - Last One Standing Endurance Run (LOSER) - 1 x 5km lap on the hour, every hour - proudly sponsored by WolfPack Industries
2:15pm - Kids Race 1km
Sunday Events 3rd December 2023
7.30am - T8 Run Gear 30km - 3 laps
8.30am - First Choice Physiotherapy Half Marathon - 2 laps - 16 years and over welcome
10:30am - Papadinos 10km Fun Run - 1 x 10.5km lap - ages 10+ welcome, all under 12's must run with an adult
RACE FEES
Fees include all Event fees and Race Roster processing fees.

There will also be some room for some camping at the race location and possibly at a property 5km away. More details soon.
LOSER participants will have areas allocated to them right next to the Start coral if they want to bring their own aid station set ups. We will also have the 10m x 5m Marquee aid station and rest area set up that was popular last year. Reservations are required so we can save you a LOSER aid station spot.
The LOSER course will be a 5km 150m +/- elevation lap.

CHECK IN AND LATE REGISTRATION
Check in, bib collection, transfer and late entries will be available Friday evening from 4pm and from Saturday morning at 6am.
Online Registration will be open up until race mornings.
CUT OFFS
Saturday - 50km and Marathon - 9pm
Saturday - 5km - 5.30pm
Sunday - 30km, Half Marathon, 10km - 5:30pm
PRIZES
There will be Overall Male and Female Winner trophies in the 50km Ultra, Marathon, 30km, Half Marathon, and Fun Run.
Sponsor prizes for 2nd and 3rd.
There will also be many Lucky Draw Prizes.
All finishers will get a medal.
CATERING
There will be the Mins Brew Coffee Cart at the event.
MERCHANDISE
Merchandise will be available as an optional extra to your registration or purchase on the day at the Event Hub. We will have buffs, hoodies, performance run T shirts, singlets and caps. We'll also have the awesome T8 run gear and Gipron Poles for sale at the BMF shop.
MANDATORY GEAR
You will not be far away from help or shelter all along the course so we just ask you to carry a 500ml bottle or flask so you stay hydrated We also ask you to carry a snake bandage and your phone with the Race Directors number stored on it - 0402925608 in case you need help.
AID STATIONS
The event hub will be the main aid station. There will be water available on other parts of the course. Please fill your water at the aid station every lap for the 10.5km distance.
TRANSFERS, CANCELLATIONS, EVENT DISTANCE CHANGES
Transfers, cancellations and event distance changes are covered in the waiver details. The transfer fee to another person is $25 and can be done on the day but preferably done in advance on Race Roster.
To change events, you can swap to an event of a lesser distance for a fee of $25 either payable in advance via Race Roster or an email/process. It can also be done on the day at check in with a paper form and payable on day. To transfer to a greater distance event the fee is the difference between the race fees.
Last date for cancellation refunds of 50% is 4 weeks out from the event, 3rd November 2023.
