Thank you for participating in Wellwood's 25th Walk/Run/Wheel!

In 2020, Wellwood was completely reimagined. Through the introduction of virtual programs, expanded online resources and a dramatic increase in peer mentoring, we continued to be resilient and responsive, with our volunteer team quickly mobilizing to meet new needs in new ways. Registrations soared and our geographic reach leaped to include participants from B.C. to Ireland. Evaluations, feedback and testimonials were glowing. Like Wellwood itself, our virtual space was diverse, safe, inclusive and as barrier free as possible. Everything we offered remained free of charge and evidence-informed. 

Thousands of people in our community who are still living with cancer continue to report unprecedented levels of anxiety. Most face serious or life-threatening illness and many are immune-compromised. Visits to hospitals and clinical settings, while necessary, can be frightening and lonely. Pandemic delays have led to increased worries. Cancer is already isolating.  

They need us, more than ever. 

In 2023, we have emerged with a hybrid of in-person and virtual offerings, ensuring best practices and self-determination for clients as they are gradually able to safely gather again. Our new direction allows us to better meet the needs of those who are unable to come to our physical spaces – whether that is due to geography, caregiving responsibilities, mobility, feeling too unwell to travel, or continuing to practice distancing for personal safety.   

All the money you raise through pledges goes directly to the no cost programs that empower these clients to live well with cancer.

We are so grateful that you support our work, especially now, during ongoing uncertain times for small charities. We receive no funding from government, hospitals or national cancer organizations. We rely on donations, as well as grants from local foundations, to do what we do. Your gift helps to keep cancer support in Hamilton.
