On September 30th we will once again host our annual Blue Jay 5K & Hero Mile in person. This event Includes a 5K Race and a 1-mile fun run/walk. The goal of this race is to raise money for a scholarship fund created in honor of Officer Philip Michael Pennington, who our school was named after in September 2000. Officer Pennington was shot and killed while serving our community as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT Team. Our school strives to uphold his character through our high standards and character education. His memory lives on through our students as they strive for excellence in education.
The course will be marked on both asphalt and grass and will be entirely on the school property.
T-Shirts are guaranteed by race day if you are registered by September 14th. Any registrations after the 14th will receive their shirt after the race.
*****Anyone may register to participate in the event. There is a question asking for the homeroom teacher to track student participation and award/student and class incentives.*****
