Village of South Holland Fun Run

5K Run/Walk

Join us for our South Holland Fun Run 5K on September 16, 2023!

The race starts at the beautiful Veterans Memorial Park (500 East 160th Place) in South Holland, Illinois. The opening ceremony begins at 7am. Runners are encouraged to wear costumes or accessories, and we will have some fun surprises along the course to keep participants entertained!

Your registration includes a race bag filled with a long-sleeve race shirt and many goodies (while supplies last). Everyone who finishes the race will receive a finisher's medal, and prizes are awarded to our top finishers.

This year, a portion of every registration fee benefits Tabitha House for Women. The Tabitha House program provides safe housing, job skills, life skills, counseling, and advocacy for women who have struggled with addictions and domestic violence.

NOTE: Online registration is now closed. On-site registration is available on the day of the race from 6-6:45am, until all slots are filled. Those who register on site might not receive their preferred T-shirt or a race bag, as supplies are limited.

If you have already registered and were not able to pick up your bib/race bag, please visit the Information Booth at the pavilion on the day of the race.

Packet & Race Shirt Pick-Up

Fun Run packet pick up will be held prior to the event at the Village of South Holland, 16226 Wausau Ave. Here you will receive your race bib, race shirt, and goodie bag.

Wednesday, September 13, 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 14, 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.

**NOTE: If you have already registered and were not able to pick up your bib/race bag, please visit the Information Booth at the pavilion on the day of the race.


Race Start

All participants will begin the race promptly at 7:30am. We will place runners/joggers at the front of the group, and walkers will be placed in the back. There will be a brief 3-5 minutes between each group. Due to safety reasons, participants will NOT be permitted to begin the race after the last group leaves the start line, so be sure to arrive early.

A 20-minute mile pace or faster is required for the 5K race (approximately three miles per hour, equivalent to a brisk walk). If you fall below this pace, the South Holland Fun Run race organizers cannot guarantee course support, as road closures, water stations, and medical support will begin to become unavailable to participants. The local police and race organizers will ask you to either move up onto the sidewalk or require you to be transported further up on course to catch up to the 15-minute per mile group.


Parking

You may park at the gravel lot on 160th Place and South Park Avenue. Please keep in mind that roads will begin closing at 6:45am for the race, so plan to arrive early.


Medical

Medical support will be provided at the finish line, as well as along the course as needed.

Prizes & Race Medals

All participants will receive a finisher’s medal at the designated station. Age division winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place - male and female) will receive a medal. Top finishers in each race will receive a monetary prize.

Medal Ceremony begins at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Age Divisions: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

In the Park

Enjoy the following attractions in the park for before/after the race:

  • Rejuvenate with post-race refreshments in the pavilion

  • Grab a tasty treat at the Hi-Way Bakery donut truck (items available for purchase, so bring cash or credit card)
  • Ride the mechanical shark
