The Fallen Police Officer Fund of Depot Division presents the Mountie Maker Obstacle Race, taking place on the RCMP Academy grounds this September 23, 2023! This fun race will consist of a 7.5 km run and 26 obstacles with a variety of physical challenges. Why 26 obstacles? In the spirit of the current 26-week Cadet Training Program (CTP), it follows the length of time it takes to become a Mountie at Depot.
For adults and cadets: Participants can register individually or as a team. The first heat will leave at 8:00 a.m. Then, heats will run continuously every 15 minutes after that. The last heat will leave at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
Note: If you are a cadet, please check your email for the promo code. You must use the promo code to receive the $35 Cadet Rate.
For kids: There will also be a Mini Mountie 1.5 km obstacle race for kids aged 5 to 13. The Mini Mountie heats will run at 8:30 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.
All participants (or a parent or legal guardian on behalf of a participant) will be required to complete an online waiver as part of the registration process.

Mountie Maker FAQ
1. What is included in my registration?
· A t-shirt, a medal, water and snacks after the race.
2. As a participant, where am I allowed to go around the RCMP Academy?
· The RCMP Academy is an active training site and a secure facility. Access is controlled. Personal items will be searched on entry. Participants will be restricted to the course around RCMP Academy grounds only.
3. Am I allowed to take pictures or have my personal electronic devices, like a smartphone or GoPro, with me while I’m at the RCMP Academy?
- The taking of photographs or capturing of content while on the RCMP Academy grounds will only be permitted at the Start/Finish line of the course. No other photography or capturing of content will be allowed on the course. Please help us maintain and protect the integrity of the Cadet Training Program, privacy of cadets and staff as well as general officer/employee/participant safety.
4. Can I bring a bag / will there be a bag drop?
· Personal items will be searched on entry. For the safety of all participants, volunteers and spectators, participants are encouraged to bring as little as possible with them on the day of the race. Each participant will be provided a clear plastic bag to put their contents in. Each bag should clearly display the participant’s first and last name. You will tie your plastic bag to a fence inside the RCMP Academy grounds while you are completing the obstacle race. The RCMP is not liable for any lost or stolen personal effects.
5. When is package pickup?
· Package pickup will be on Friday, September 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the RCMP Depot Division Fort Dufferin Boardroom. Please park at the RCMP Heritage Centre (5907 Dewdney Avenue) – the south side closest to the Fort Dufferin building where the Guardroom is located.
· Walk south on Bonner Drive and enter the Fort Dufferin Building with the sign that says Guardroom on the outside.
· Turn right after you enter both sets of doors and go to the Fort Dufferin Boardroom where you will be able to pick up your package.
6. Where do I park?
· Parking will be at Rambler Park located just South of Depot. Buses will be running continuously from Rambler Park to Depot starting at 7:00 AM.
7. Can spectators come?
· Yes, spectators are welcome. They will be restricted to the staging area of the race off of 11th Avenue. Anyone entering the race staging area needs to report to the registration table upon arrival. Personal items will be searched on entry.
8. Can a parent run with the child in the Mini Race?
· Yes!
9. Can I bring my pet?
· Please do not bring your pets. Service dogs are welcome.
10. What should I wear?
· Wear clothing you won’t mind getting dirty or torn.
11. How do I edit, change or cancel my registration?
· Race registration may not be transferred or sold to a third party. Fees are non-refundable.
12. What happens if the weather is inclement?
· Rain or shine, the event is on!
13. How many obstacles will there be?
· The 26 obstacles represent the 26 weeks it takes to complete the Cadet Training Program.
14. Do I need to be fit to take part?
· No way! This is a fun race that all fitness levels can enjoy. Be ready to climb some ropes, get over 8-foot walls and army crawl through mud and sand.
15. Can I register a team?
· For the adult race, you bet! A team can be anywhere from 2 to 10 people.
16. Can I ride my bike to the event?
· Yes, just bring a lock to secure it.
