The following Regional Circuit race classes are being offered:
1 Dog Canitrail Standard (2.7KM)
1 Dog Canitrail Sprint (1.7KM)
1.7KM Race route:
This route is not for the faint of heart. It begins with true single track. The first kilometre is a mix of fast grass lined coastal single track with large roots to contend with. A sharp turn to the left and we hit the quad killer, 30 metres of steep incline.. make it to the top and the chase is on with flat double wide gravel to finish off the route. Don't look back at the beautiful views of the Bay of Fundy or you might get passed!
2.7KM Race Route:
This route follows the 1.7KM route and continues on for an additional KM of double wide gravel with a mix of wide open trail and wooded sections.
Race Registration:
*In advance only
*NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION*
**Deadline to register is Thursday, May 18th at 6pm.
Park Entrance Fees: All participants must pay a park entrance fee in addition to their race registration fee. The park has offered us a group rate of $9 per person admission for race day. This can be added to your registration (for participants & spectators).
If you are local and looking to get a pass for the season or a multi-day pass check out the parks early bird rates here. If you already have a pass for the park (or plan on getting one) you do not need to add the Park Entrance Fee to your registration.
We want to acknowledge that the land we will be on is the land of the Wolastoqiyik and Mi'Kmaq people.

Gear Requirements
Required Equipment for Canitrail:
Dogs: All dogs MUST be in a harness designed for running and pulling. Dogs must be 12 months of age for events 5km or longer. Dogs must be 10 months of age to compete in events up to a distance of 2km.
Canitrail: A canicross belt & bungee line is strongly recommended though any hands-free running leash will be acceptable. The distance from the competitor's abdomen to the base of the tail of the dog must be at most 2 meters, when tight without elongation. However, the recommended distance is 1.70 meters. As this race is a MAHDS sanctioned event, this competition will utilize the MAHDS race rules.
Rules:
Because harness dog sports involve more than human athletes, our rules for participants incorporate more than the expected rules to ensure fair competition. These rules also address factors that can impact the health and safety of our canine and human teammates - things like the age of the dog for competition, sport-specific gear requirements for humans and dogs, trail rules (such as passing), and good sportsmanship.
All participants must review and adhere to the following documents prior to race day:
- MAHDS Rules for Participants
- MAHDS Code of Conduct
Both of these documents can be found on the MAHDS website HERE
