The Headingley Fire Department Run for Wishes is a sanctioned 5 km run. As a member of the Manitoba Runners Association run and youth series we use professional chip timing and offer a 3 km walk as well. The scenic route takes you over and along the Assiniboine River and through residential South Headingley. The run starts and finishes at the Headingley Fire Department and is followed by an awards ceremony and approximately 50 draw prizes. This event is perfect for elite runners to casual walkers and everyone in-between.
Headingley Fire Department held their first Run for Wishes in May of 2001. The number of participants were small and we had just a few sponsors. Over the past 22 years, our run has evolved and grown. We now host hundreds of runners and walkers and are now supported by over 40 sponsors.
This year our two main title causes are the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation and the Westgrove Family Resource Centre. Both initiatives work to better the lives of children in our broader community.
New for this year we have added multiple new age tiers for our Youth Runners. We will have 7 age tiers with medal placings for both boys and girls in our U18 categories. All Youth Champions will receive a gift card from Activate Games!
Along with our brand new logo and t-shirt design for 2023, we will be introducing our inaugural race program! The program will list last years champions, current year registrants, as well as information about the history of our event. We will also acknowledge the many sponsors that make our event possible!
We have worked tirelessly to keep our registration fees low! Please help us support our 2023 charities and get the next generation of MRA runners going!
