My Story…
Join me for JCYC’s 13th Annual SF Aloha Run on Sunday, September 24th at Crissy Field in San Francisco!
This year's SF Aloha Run For Hope is focused on the future and young people who will one day be our community leaders. Proceeds from the 2023 SF Aloha Run for Hope will support JCYC’s scholarship programs which supports young people in pursuing higher education. This year, the organization is excited to announce that funds raised from the run will be used to launch the inaugural Julie Matsueda Believe Scholarship in addition to supporting the Excellence, Pathways and Thomatra Scott scholarship programs.
Jennifer, why do you choose to work at JCYC?
After I graduated college, a friend told me about job openings at JCYC's Chibi Chan Preschool. Before that, I've always heard about JCYC from my friends and how they were involved within Japantown. So JCYC was a bit familiar to me. Over time, JCYC became a place that I was able to grow in my field. From being a substitute teacher, then a teacher and lead teacher, and finally a site director. I have stayed with JCYC because I've also gained many friendships along the way. Besides becoming great friends with the teachers, I've also made long lasting relationships with our clients.
It is important to work at JCYC because of the continuity aspect. Like I say in all my school tours for potential families, here at JCYC, we want to make sure our kids are taken care of from preschool to college. I agree with JCYC's values and I personally try and instill those in my everyday life and in my kids as well.
