HORNER HUSTLE
Make Your Miles Matter in honor of Mike Horner
Founded in 2018, the Horner Hustle 5K Fun Run/Walk is celebrating its SIXTH year! We invite you, your family, and your friends to join us in Centennial Park for the Horner Hustle.
Mike Horner lived in Edison Park with his wife, Heather, and daughter Mary Helen. Mike was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in December 2015, and passed away shortly after Mary Helen’s first birthday, 9 months after his diagnosis, and minutes before his 46 birthday.
The Horner, Dunne, Balducci, and Pietryla families partner again with Project Purple to host the 5K at Centennial Park, or virtually from anywhere, raising funds for early detection and a cure for pancreatic cancer in Mike's honor.
How does it work?
1. Register for either the in-person or virtual version of the event. Create a team and invite your friends and family to join you.
2. Receive your custom bib via email.
3. On August 19th, walk 1 mile or run a 5k. You can participate in-person at Centennial Park or virtually from home.
4. Wear your custom bib, take and post pictures and videos to social media using #hornerhustle2023, #projectpurple, and tag @projectpurple. Also, post pictures to the 2023 Horner Hustle photo gallery.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Project Purple and their mission of a world without pancreatic cancer. Learn more about Project Purple at www.projectpurple.org.
This year, we're giving away hats to all registered participants!
