Oct. 14, 2023 at Gadsden Park in Tampa, FL
#LightUpMBC shines a light on the importance of critical funding for Metastatic Breast Cancer research, also known as Stage 4, where the cancer has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body. As of right now there is NO CURE.

The inspiration behind the #LightUpMBC Tampa Bay campaign
Erica Griffiths, who grew up in the Tampa area was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer while breastfeeding her 16-month-old daughter Isobel. Although there was no family history of breast cancer, the cancer had quickly spread to her liver and bones. Erica died May 7, 2021 after fighting hard against this disease. In Erica's honor, her mother Robin Bethune spearheaded the #LightUpMBC campaign in Tampa. She got the city to illuminate landmarks in the symbolic colors of green, teal and pink on MBC Awareness Day Oct. 13. And now Robin has assembled a team to put together the 2nd annual #LightUpMBC Tampa Bay 5K Race & Fun Run to raise money for finding a cure.
