All funds raised will benefit the Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) - ASTRO's research foundation. Since ROI was founded 18 years ago, it has funded more than $4 million in research to advance impactful, high-quality research that enhances patient outcomes and quality of life.

As a participant in the ROI 5k, you'll join hundreds of friends for a professionally managed race along the San Diego waterfront. Participants who completed Early Bird, Advanced, or General Registration will receive the official race water bottle, and participants who completed Last Minute Registration will receive the race t-shirt (sizes are not guaranteed).

Visit the ROI Booth, located in the San Diego Convention Center Hall E Lobby, to pick-up your race bib and race swag (water bottle and/or t-shirt.
The Booth is open:
• Sunday, October 1: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Monday, October 2: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The race starts at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3 at the park in front of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront (1 Park Boulevard, San Diego, California, 92101, USA). Race line festivities start at 6:30 a.m.
UPDATED ROUTE AS OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 2:
While the route has been slightly updated, it follows a very similar path along the San Diego Embarcadero.
The ROI 5k is an out-and-back route along the San Diego Embarcadero, which winds behind the San Diego Convention Center and along the waterfront. The route managed and the race is timed by our vendor, TimingHQ.
We're making a few small changes to help the race be more climate-friendly. You may notice a few changes to this year's race:
- Replaced the race medal with a medal, 32 oz water bottle
- Plastic water bottles will no longer be offered at the start/finish line
- All finish line food and water will be locally sourced
RACE REFUNDS:
The ROI 5k is a fundraising event to benefit the Radiation Oncology Institute - ASTRO's research foundation.
Request for refunds made 60 days or more before the race (Friday, August 4) will be granted and returned via the same method of the payment.
Request for refunds made with the 60 days before the event will not be granted.

RACE TRANSFER:
You may request to transfer your race registration to another person if requested at least 30 days or more before the race (September 3, 2023).
Any requests made within the 30 days before the event will not be granted.

RACE DEFERRAL:
The ROI 5k does not allow for registrants to defer their registration to another year.
