Join the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights Virtual 1 Mile & 5K Run/Walk from Friday, September 15th through Sunday, October 1st. Choose any day, pick your favorite route, form a team, and run or walk together with people across the U.S to support unaccompanied immigrant children’s rights. Register by August 14th and save $5 off your registration.
Years ago, the Young Center had the honor of serving a girl from West Africa. When she was successfully released from custody, settled in, and enrolled in high school, she sent a letter to her Child Advocate, thanking her for being her Waymaker. We love that word. Today, as children continue to be separated from their families at the border and children who arrive on their own are at risk of being deported to danger, we need more Waymakers than ever. Funds raised fight for the best interests of unaccompanied immigrant children.
This is what a gift can do:
- $50 - Arranges for a telephone/video call for a detained parent and child
- $100 - Provides travel for a volunteer to visit a child in detention weekly
- $250 - Offers a backpack & necessities for a child just released from custody
- $500 - Assists in locating detained parents of a child
- $1000+ - Provides an international safety assessment and home study for a child being repatriated
