JENNIFER'S BABIES

     Many of you knew Jennifer or have heard us talk about her. For those of you not familiar with her story, Jennifer was a dedicated neonatologist at Sinai Hospital who passionately cared for the tiny, often extremely ill babies in Sinai's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She loved “her” babies! And everybody loved Jennifer. She was taken from us suddenly at the age of 34.

     Our team has been the top fundraising team in the Race each year we have participated. Our success is a tribute to Jennifer, and to all of you who so generously contribute to the effort.

      All of the money raised by team Jennifer's Babies goes directly into the Dr. Jennifer Ann Kierson Memorial Fund, established shortly after her death. This fund is used for the benefit of the NICU babies, the babies' families, and the NICU staff.  Merle & Richard participate in the decision making about how the funds are used.  

     Projects supported by the Dr. Jennifer Ann Kierson Memorial Fund include overnight stay rooms for NICU families, supplies for needy families, a library, progress beads, emergency funds for families, and more. The fund also sponsors the weekly Dr. Jennifer Ann Kierson Pediatric Grand Rounds at Sinai Hospital, recognizing Jennifer's emphasis on education, especially for young doctors.

      Now it's time for this year's Race for Our Kids. Race day is Sunday, October 8, 2023, just over sixteen years since her passing.
