Mandatory Race Packet Pickup and In Person Registration The Running Factory (5480 Wyandotte St. East) from 10:00am-8:00pm on Thursday, September 7 and Friday, September 8
Race Day Registration opens at 7:30am on Saturday, September 9 for late packet pickup and last minute sign-ups!
Run or walk on a closed road course on Riverside Drive featuring Police, Fire and EMS vehicles down the middle of the route in honour of local first responders.
As part of Windsor’s FIREFEST events, we will start and finish at the Riverfront Plaza. Distances include a 5K Run or Walk, Kid's 1K and Kid's Dash.
All participates will receive a Finishers Medal and a limited edition Tech T-Shirt! Running age group awards for 1st place in each 5 year age division plus 1st place overall M/F.
This run/walk will provide financial support for the Canadian Mental Health Association and Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario.
Funds raised at Firefest will support ongoing Mental Health Education, Training and Awareness as part of the Sole Focus Project at the Canadian Mental Health Association. The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics (LETR) engages law enforcement officers worldwide championing acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, starting first with their own communities.
All funds raised through Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run events are directed into program support that directly affects all community Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) programs. Funds are put into local programs and help pay for various expenses including games travel, staff support to the field, volunteer and athlete training.
Windsor’s FIREFEST is back with its 10th edition showcasing firefighting skills at the Riverfront Festival Plaza demonstrated in 4 rugged activities:
- 5K Run with First Responders (September 9)
- TUG ACROSS the RIVER (September 9)
- T2B RESCUE RELAYS – Community Obstacle Course (September 8)
- FIREFIT Western Ontario Regional (September 9 & 10)

5km Road Run Course
- The course will be an out and back (2.5KM each direction) flat or semi-flat 5KM.
- NO inline skating, cycling, strollers, baby joggers, etc., allowed
- No animals (support animals) allowed on the course
- Mass Start - all participants will start together at the same time
- Windsor Timing will be utilizing electronic timers and chip timing
- A lead bicycle will direct participants on the course
- A follow-up bicycle will be with the last participant on the course
- A display clock will be at the START/FINISH so that each competitor can see their time
- Water stations with volunteers will be provided at each KM on the course.
- A PA system and announcer will be employed to review rules, announcement participants, etc.
