Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping extravaganza like no other! Join us on Friday, August 25, as we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Strong Kids Duathlon – the most beloved event of the summer, proudly presented by the YMCA Northumberland!
Witness the determination, and spirit of young athletes as they conquer a combination of running and swimming challenges. This showcase of courage and camaraderie will inspire us all, whether you're a seasoned sports enthusiast or a first-timer. Gather your friends and family to cheer on these young stars as they dash across the finish line with hearts pounding and faces beaming with triumph!
What’s more, the Strong Kids Duathlon is not just a race. YMCA Northumberland's Strong Kids Duathlon raises funds to ensure the YMCA continues to strengthen our communities through programs focused on improving well-being and water safety throughout Northumberland County. This family friendly, child duathlon is attended and sponsored by many Northumberland families and businesses, bringing together like minded community supporters to raise awareness and funds to support the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign.
Come and be a part of this empowering celebration, full of fun and emotions, as we unite to make a difference in the lives of many! The Strong Kids Duathlon is not just an event; it's a symbol of hope, unity, and the power of community. Don't miss out on this memorable day – see you at the starting line on August 25!
EVENT DETAILS
- Kids ages 3-15 can participate in this friendly, competitive event while family, friends, volunteers and YMCA staff cheer them on.
- Check-in starts at 5pm; first race at 5:45pm; Over by 8pm.
- Swim in Centennial Pool.
- Run through Victoria Park.
- Six different age groups, each with their own event start time and distance:
- Under 3 years
- 4-5 years
- 6-7 years
- 8-9 years
- 10-11 years
- 12+ years
YMCA Membership is not required - any child aged 3 to 15 years can register and participate in this event.
The fee to participate is $15 per child plus we are offering commemorative t-shirts to each participant for just $5 per t-shirt.
All proceeds from the Strong Kids Duathlon support our Strong Communities Campaign and a portion of funds raised will be directed specifically into teaching kids to swim and training lifeguards.
Port Hope Sports & Rehabilitation Centre will be on site offering complimentary massages to our young athletes.
