My Story…
Meet our epilepsy warrior Elise. Elise was diagnosed in January 2013 with a rare neurological disorder Subcortical Band Heterotopia causing intellectual and developmental delays as well as drig resistant Epilepsy. Elise seizures are difficult to manage. In May 2019 she underwent brain surgery, they performed successfully a 2/3 corpus callosotomy. This helped manage drop attacks and tonic clonics. In March 2022 Elise had another procedure, Vagnus Nerve Stimulator. This helped reduce the myoclonic clusters. Elise still battles focal seizures and at times clonic tonic seizures and atonic seizures. We recently relocated back to ON from BC and we are happy to take part in the Seize the day walk and to be a part of the Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario community.
