Angie and Bleu’s story:
“My older boy, Ash, and I had just lost our dear buddy, Hunter. Ash was so sad still after months, and I knew he needed a friend. Of course, I wasn’t sure if I was ready, and I continued to talk to my dear friend, Jodi (from A Better Life- Pet Rescue), about it. Somehow she knew…
Not long after, she mentioned a sweet boy who had been bounced from home to home. The thought of that hurt my heart so badly, and we just couldn’t allow for that to continue, so we met him and instantly fell in love (she was right about him being the one for us). He was so nervous (with good reason), so the road was long. It took him and Ash a bit, but we worked through it and now…well, we can’t imagine life without him. Even as I write this, I cry… He completes our home. Even though his older (much older) brother doesn’t show it, he is better with his buddy by his side grooming him.
My boy Bleu is silly, kind, energetic, curious and a total cuddle bunny (one of his nicknames). He checks in on me every night and every morning, and is almost always by my side when I am home. I know he will be my dear buddy for a long time, and look forward to our time together. He knows he is safe and I am so happy about that.”
Jenny, Kanan and Arda's story:
“A Better Life - Pet Rescue are life savers- literally. Both Kanan and Arda were on death’s door when they were brought to the rescue. Arda needed to have her leg amputated, and Kanan’s eyes were so infected that they needed to be removed. It was recommended that they were simply put to sleep, as they would require costly surgeries and a lot of care to save. But A Better Life - Pet Rescue believes that if an animal wants to fight to live, they will fight to give them every opportunity to do so. And so they raised money and advocated for these sweet cats. They then were nursed back to health by the incredible team of fosters at the rescue and I don’t even have the words for the gratitude I feel. Kanan and Arda are such a blessing to me and my husband. They make us laugh every day. They remind us how much good there is in this world. And A Better Life - Pet Rescue is a beautiful part of that good.”
Meghan and Rasputin's story:
“A friend and myself had been feeding a community of feral cats when, and as it happens, kittens suddenly were in the mix. We split the litter to take care of them, but in getting them, one kitten was unaccounted for. We were worried he had perished in the day between spotting them and getting ways to collect them. A day and half later, that kitten, was spotted hiding in a tree…he was all black and had been invisible when we came looking. He had survived without his family at 4 weeks old for a day and a half. That was little Rasputin. He was spicy (many hisses), covered in his own poop (long hair, wormy belly, no mama makes a smelly kitty), and adorable. Bathing him didn’t help so finally, I just cut everything out of his fur and he looked like ‘weird Barbie.’ My friend (Robert, from Big Poppa’s TNR) and I fostered three kittens each under A Better Life’s wing, and all of those kittens got healthy, promoted, and adopted because of their guidance.
I had lost my elderly cat to kidney disease (also adopted through A Better Life as a kitten), and while I had no intention of taking one of these kittens…Rasputin just won me over. I could not have helped these without A Better Life, and I wouldn’t have a giant house panther without them either. Ra Ra Rasputin AND A Better Life!”
Jodi, Emmylou and Lennon's story:
“Emmylou was rescued in 2018. She was being used to breed puppies for profit. She was found running around her neighborhood. A neighbor recognized where she came from and when she brought her back, they said they didn’t want her anymore. A Better Life - Pet Rescue took her in, brought her to the vet and got her spayed. She’s now living the best life with Jodi and John.
Lennon was abandoned 13 years ago. He was found as a 5 month old puppy. He had a deadly disease called Parvo. A Better Life - Pet Rescue rescued him and nursed him back to health. Jodi and her husband, John fostered him and fell in love. He’s been with them ever since. He’s the best boy!”
