On September 29th, 2006, Craig Schurman Condon passed away from pancreatic cancer, just 8 weeks after diagnosis. In his memory, Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society was founded and has been fighting the disease ever since.
The Porters Lake Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Bike / Run / Walk is our longest running event going 17 years strong. It's been pivotal in our fight against Pancreatic Cancer, which despite being the eleventh most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canada, is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the country, with less than one third of patients surviving a year after diagnosis. Participants can register as individuals or as teams and have the choice of walking, running and cycling routes, within the park or around Porters Lake.
On September 30th 2023, participants will gather at the Porter’s Lake Provincial Park to honour or remember loved ones diagnosed with pancreatic cancer while raising funds and awareness to fight against the disease.
