My Story…
Hey Everyone!
This event is so close to my heart with my fiancé, in-laws and grandfather as active and retired law-enforcement, as well as countless family and friends as spouses, family, and the first responders & military themselves. For those who have dealt with Occupational Stress Injuries, for those who have watched a loved one go through it, and for those who are working to overcome it. I participate in this event for them.
This year I’ll (again) be completing 8 hero workouts over two days (Nov 4 & 5th) honouring fallen Canadian service men and women. The number of law-enforcement line of duty deaths in the last 18 months has been a devastating reminder of the occupational hazards our first responders put their lives on the line for, but also the trauma the community experiences as a whole. This years workouts honour fallen Canadian military members, Ontario police constables Andrew Hong of TPS, and Greg Pierzchala of the OPP, as well as firefighters, paramedics and all first responders chasing monsters in their heads.
Wounded Warriors is a national mental health service provider utilizing clinical best practices and evidence-based care to create an environment of compassion, resiliency and hope for Canada’s Veterans, First Responders and their families.
Since the event’s inception only 7 years ago, 24 Hours of Heroes has raised almost $300,000 in support of Wounded Warriors, including funding for 3 service dogs for service members. ❤️🦮
My wonderful employer is again graciously matching all funds that I raise for this event up to $5000. Last year we raised an incredible $3300, and had a total donation to wounded warriors of $6800!!! I’d love to take advantage of their offer and push that up to the 10k mark this year! All donations over $25 receive a tax receipt as well and can be made as an individual or a business!! ❤️
Send me a message if you want to pop in for a workout with me! All abilities and skill levels are welcome, anything can be scaled!!!!
