Please help us raise funds to support our homeless youth.
This year we are asking for your help to support an amazing local program Bridging the Gap.
Bridging the Gap (BTG) strives to provide readily and easily accessible support for youth between the ages of 16-24 residing in the Halton Region who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Committed to fostering a youth-directed, strength-based approach to assisting youth in achieving their goals, BTG encourages partnerships with service providers in the Halton Region to maintain a positive, reputable, and constructive approach in our service to youth. On average 400 – 500 youth are served by Bridging the Gap annually.
From personal experience I can say that this is one of the most unknown services within our community and the provide the most critical support for our youth. They have been such an incredible support for us personally, while trying to navigate a very complicated and difficult system. I truly do not where we would be with out them. Their dedicated to each individual youth contributes to their huge success in helping the youth in our community feel empowered and in control of their lives, most for the first time ever. The provide support both emotionally and financially. Our local representative has become part of the family.
Please see testimonials from local youth within our community:
From program participant Alex:
"BTG has helped me experience living with new possibilities, by teaching me how to live on my own at a young age. Because of this I feel I am prepared to move on to bigger responsibilities in the future and I have matured as an adult under their care."
From participant Bradley:
"BTG has helped me so much over the years. Finding landlords that wouldn’t judge you for being on OW, helping out with money when moving into a new house to get everything I need, and most of all case management and helping me connect to vital services."
From participant Faith:
"BTG helped me acquire housing and learn the basics of keeping it, also I was provided with great support and direction toward mental health supports and transportation to them. When I lost housing BTG helped me with resources on shelters and helped me get into the system as well as get me to the shelter with my stuff. You provided me with crucial mental health support and played a pivotal role in helping me stay as stable as I could be."
