AN UNSUPPORTED BICYCLE ADVENTURE TO THE TOP OF AUSTRALIA
Developed in 2023 by Dan Hunt, the founder of the Hunt 1000, the Hunt Sydney to Summit is a self-sufficient bikepacking challenge that takes riders through some of Australia’s most beautiful terrain. Starting in the bustling metropolis of Sydney, riders will navigate their way through national parks and remote areas, while climbing ~13,000vm, from sea level to the the highest point in Australia.
There are no winners and no awards for completing this epic journey – it’s all about the personal challenge.
Weaving together a network of paths, tarmac, gravel and double tracks, riders will experience changing Australian flora as they travel from lush coastal forests to open high plains. As you venture down the back roads and trails you’ll experience some of the best gravel riding on the east coast, but come prepared for alpine weather and some bonus challenges along the way.
Riders will pedal from Sydney to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko and be aiming for a grand finish, rather than a grand depart, on Saturday the 2nd March 2024.
This is not a race but an adventure and your departure date is up to you. The goal is to get to Kosci…..and share a brew with the other riders at the top of Australia.
