My Story…
Did you know that only four per cent of all cancer research funding in Canada goes toward pediatric cancers? Yet it’s the number one cause of death by disease in kids. We can do better for them and our collective future.
Exactly one year ago, a brave little girl named Sloane, who was supposed to be running in the kids’ marathon at this very race, was instead diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma - CANCER. Despite the challenges she’s faced, Sloane's spirit, resilience, energy and infectious laughter have inspired us to take action. In honour of Sloane and countless other children fighting similar battles, Sloane’s mom has created a run team to raise funds for childhood cancer research.
On May 26, 2024, we will be participating in the annual Calgary marathon, not just as a physical challenge but as a symbol of hope, strength, and solidarity for children like Sloane. We have set an ambitious fundraising goal, and this is where we need your help.
Your contribution can make a meaningful impact on the lives of children battling cancer through the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation's contribution to the new Centre for Immunotherapy. Every dollar brings us one step closer to advancements in treatment, research breakthroughs, and ultimately, a cure. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that children like Sloane can grow up to live long, healthy, happy lives.
