Our story…
We are running the 2024 Pittsburgh Marathon Relay to raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).
Our team captain, Lauren, was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease during her sophomore year of college. Lauren's fight over the years has involved countless medical procedures, medications, infusions, and hospital visits. She has had three major surgeries, with the final one leaving her with an ileostomy. Although living with an ostomy has it's own challenges, it has given Lauren a significantly better quality of life.
Lauren turned to running after her surgeries as a way to manage the emotional toll and physical challenges of living with an ileostomy. She wanted to prove to that she could do anything!
Our Marathon Relay team is comprised of Lauren's brother-in-law, Tom, and family friends Jamie, Janet, and Christopher. Together, we will complete the entire 26.2 mile course, and are running in honor of the CCFA!
Please support our team by making a gift to the CCFA.
CCFA is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization dedicated to finding cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
