Raise money for RHLI Cadets
62 RHLI Cadet Corps Support Committee is an organization regulated by the Army Cadet League of Canada, and is comprised of Hamilton Core Area Parents who volunteer their time and talents to support the kids in Hamilton’s 62 Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Army Cadet Corps.
As it has been forbidden to conduct any “In-Person” fund-raising for the last two year due to the pandemic, 62 RHLI Cadet Corps Support Committee is excited to invite our community to support Hamilton kids by participating in the “Vimy Run for Riley Cadets (62RCACC)”, held on the anniversary of Canada’s gallant Victory at Vimy Ridge on 9th April 1917. 62 RHLI is a 131-year old Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps that has served local youth since first established and affiliated with Hamilton’s oldest Infantry Regiment, the 13th Battalion, Volunteer Militia (Infantry), in 1890. Those in The RHLI Regimental Family have been known as “Rileys” since WWII. Like RCAC Corps across Canada, 62 RHLI’s primary aim is threefold: to develop in local youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; to promote physical fitness among its teen-aged members ; and to stimulate interest in local youth in land activities of the Canadian Forces." Army Cadets develop abilities in the use of map and compass, GPS technology, orienteering, first-aid, camping & survival skills, canoeing, abseiling (rappelling), hiking, mountain biking, etc. As they get more experienced, some will be selected for parachuting, white-water rafting and glacier climbing and exchanges to the UK & Europe. Our training hones local teens to be outdoor leaders. Our Cadets get involved in ceremonial military events and citizenship activities that allow them to connect to their Canadian heritage.
Our fine young Hamiltonians develop a great sense of pride and discipline while learning and strengthening their leadership skills while looking after and instructing younger cadets. Often cited as our country’s best kept secret, 62 RHLI is proud to be a part of Canada’s most effective youth leadership & citizenship program.
