His story is proof that it's never too late to chase your dreams and overcome any obstacle life throws your way.
🎗️ From Health Challenges to Marathoner 🎗️ Bob's journey began with leukemia, blood clots, cancerous tumors on his kidneys, and more recently colon cancer and more blood clots. But at the age of 73, instead of slowing down, he embraced marathon racing. Now, he's a force to be reckoned with in the world of walker racing.
🏆 Impressive Racing History 🏆 Bob has raced over 12,000 kilometers, including a grueling 100-kilometer ultra marathon, the iconic Lumberjack race, marathons, and half marathons. His achievements are truly remarkable and continue to inspire all who hear his story.
🌟 Spotlight and Promotion 🌟 Bob's story is now showcased on posters at the Ottawa Hospitals, where his journey has captured the hearts of many. These posters are the most seen since he started walker racing, and it's easy to see why!
🚶♂️ Mastery of Walker Racing 🚶♂️ Bob's success comes from his relentless dedication to improving his race-walking technique. His focus on key elements, including straight legs, toe-to-heel movement, and maintaining an impressive cadence, sets him apart as a true master of his craft.
🥇 Recent Race Highlights 🥇 Despite a dramatic crash in one of his recent races, Bob showcased his unwavering spirit and determination. He's the epitome of continuous improvement, always pushing his limits.

Fund raising
Little Angels Blood Cancer Fund.
Hardy does not race simply to challenge himself. In 2000, he joined forces with Little Angels Blood Cancer Fund, a charity which covers non-medical costs for blood cancer patients, and raised $25,000 in one year. He is still raising funds for them through his Ottawa Race Weekends.
“The bone marrow transplant can be a long and painful process,” he notes. “The body rejects the marrow and the marrow rejects the body. There are only three bone marrow transplant units in in Canada – Ottawa, Vancouver and London. For many patients, a long way to travel.”
