Camp Ho’omana
In the words of professional canoe racer, Kalei Kahookele, with true Hawaiian values, we thrive.
When: January 31 - February 5, 2024
Where: North shore of Oahu, Hawaiʻi
Camp Ho’omana is not just a trail running camp. It is an escape from the hustle we often lose ourselves in and an opportunity to learn and preserve Hawaiian values. Inspired by what professional ultra runner, Cat Magoon, was taught exploring the lesser-known trails in Hawaiʻi growing up, and what she found lacking in the day-to-day of modern life. Camp Ho’omana hopes to inspire a newfound connection to the food we eat, where we recreate, true community, how to visit Hawaiʻi responsibly, and how to apply these values when you return home.
Ho’omana means to empower. When translated directly, it means to gather, ho’o, your power within, mana. We all have the power to live a fulfilling life, to give back to our community, to be present, and to reflect. And yet, under the pressures to succeed in this modern world, we often forget why it all matters.
At Camp Ho’omana, your hosts, Cat Magoon (Bradley), born and raised in Hawaiʻi, and her husband, Carson Magoon, a descendant of Hu’ha Kaha, King Kamehameha the Great’s esteemed canoe shaper, hope to empower you through preservation and education of the Hawaiian values that will help you visit Hawaii responsibly, and malama, or care for, the aina, your family, and your community. Join us for a weekend of epic and remote trail running on the North Shore of Oahu, surf lessons on world-famous breaks, farming native produce, and remembering our WHY. We promise you’ll leave with muddy shoes, a sandy scalp, salty clothes, and empowered with a new perspective of Hawaii and its people.
We are lucky to be visitors to Hawaii. Still, it’s important to remember to keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands, which is why a portion of the proceeds from Camp Ho’omana will be donated to the Hawaii People’s Fund.
