What is Scoring Goals For Juvenile Arthritis All About?
Scoring Goals For Juvenile Arthritis (JA) is a hockey fundraiser hosted in partnership between Scoring Goals for the Community (SGFTC) and Cassie + Friends - a charity just for kids with JA and their families. This all-star style charity hockey game will take place on May 5th in Aurora, ON at the ACC McAlpine Ford Arena at Aurora Community Centre.
This hockey fundraiser is an extra special event because it will take place at the end of our first-ever Family Day Conference in Ontario, #ConnectingJA, and will seamlessly transition into the opening of a two-day International Scientific Research Conference on JA from May 6-7th. This means that we can expect the attendance of many kids and families and some of the world's leading JA experts!
SGFTC has been bringing together local hockey enthusiasts, families, celebrities and corporate teams to compete in an all-star style hockey fundraiser since 2017, with nearly $100,000 raised to date for local food banks, autism and other causes. Founded by a Toronto-based father of two daughters with JA, this is the first-time SGFTC has partnered with C+F. We look forward to making this a must-attend event for families, partners and other friends for many years to come!
How will it work?
32 players will be treated to an all-star game experience from custom jerseys to NHL-style announcers. We invite all patients (18+), caregivers, healthcare and corporate partners to register for this unforgettable experience, which also serves as a great way to raise funds and awareness for JA research, education, connection and support across Ontario. Attendees will be treated to fun activities including a kid's shoot-out at first intermission, a 50/50 raffle draw, exciting silent auction, kids puck throw and an appearance from the SGFTC mascot!
What's included in registration (GAME PLAYERS ONLY)?
Registration to play in the hockey game will include your own professional NHL style jersey, hockey socks, water bottle and a chance to play in a once-in-a-lifetime hockey game sparking change and bringing awareness to the JA community!
What's included for Attendees?
Your ticket to attend and watch the hockey game will include fun activities and games as well as the chance to meet and connect with other families affected by JA, including Parent Leaders from Toronto-area hospitals and C+F Board Members. You will also be able to create your own personal fundraising page to help raise money and awareness for JA and other rheumatic diseases!
